Susan Bower was born in Yorkshire in 1953. After an education in the Sciences, she
returned to Yorkshire and her lifelong love of painting. She has exhibited
regularly with the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and at the Mall Galleries
with most of the major Societies in London.
She has also won many major awards, including several at the Royal
Watercolour Society and the Alan Gourley Memorial Award at the Royal Institute
of Oil Painters in 2000. She has painted professionally for 18 years and was
elected a Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1992 and a Member of
the Royal Society of British Artists in 1998. Her art falls into the broad
group of "Outsider Art" and is in private collections in Britain and
abroad, especially America where three pieces were chosen for the Anthony
Petullo Collection. She has had work
published on many occasions, including the June 2003 edition of Time and
Leisure (Wimbledon Edition).
