Ron Cosford was born in Northampton in 1935 and educated at Northampton Grammar School, after which he studied at King’s College, Cambridge.  From 1960 to 1963 he taught French at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet and then worked as a lecturer in Italian at Birmingham University until 1966.  From 1966 to 1969 he was Education Officer for the School Broadcasting Council at the BBC and following that became Regional Director for the Southern Region of the Open University.  In 1986 he took early retirement to paint full-time.  He paints exclusively in watercolour with his subjects including seascapes, buildings, figures, landscapes and rowing.  He has exhibited in England and Northern Ireland and has had many one-man shows
