Janet Duncan was born in Marlow-on-Thames and went to school at Wycombe Court School, Buckinghamshire.  She studied art at High Wycombe College of Art and gained an Intermediate in Arts and Crafts and a National Diploma in Design (Fine Art Painting).  She  received several awards including the Matt Bruce R.I. Memorial Award (in 2006) for the most outstanding use of light and colour in a watercolour, and  exhibited regularly in the area as well as in London at the Royal Society of British Artists.  She  had many solo shows as well as exhibiting in a large number of mixed exhibitions.  She also worked as a teacher and in the theatre.
