Peter Freeth, print maker and teacher, was born in Birmingham and studied at the Slade
School of Fine Art from 1956 to 1960, where he gained the Prix de Rome for
engraving in 1960. He taught at the Royal Academy Schools and the Camden Institute.
He is a member of the Royal Academy where he exhibits regularly
and where, in 1986, he was joint winner
of the best print prize in the Summer Exhibition. In 1987 he was elected
Associate of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and Engravers. From 1987 he had solo shows at Christopher
Mendez and also exhibits elsewhere in London as well as extensively
abroad. The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Arts Council and Metropolitan Museum hold his work.
