Brian Hanlon was born in Hampshire in 1956.  He works in oil, watercolour, pastel, tempera and bronze.  He held three one-man shows iun Marlborough in 1983, 1985 and 1987.  The 1987 exhibition moved from Marlborough to Jersey, and lead to a commission from the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust for a painting depicting endangered species to commemorate their 25th anniversary.  Posters of the painting were signed by Gerald Durrell and Bryan Hanlon.  He was also commissioned to design and paint the jacket cover and illustrate the book "Gerald Durrell's Army".  He has exhibited in many mixed shows, including the World of Watercolours in London; the Game Fair in Newbury; Tryon Gallery, London;  Halcyon Gallery at Selfridges in London, the Rain Forest Exhibition at the Barbican in London, the Hawk and Owl Trust Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, the Game Fair in Wales and several Galleries in Gloucestershire and Hampshire. .  He has also exhibited abroad in Africa, France and America.  He exhibited at the Whaletail Exhibition held by the East African Wildlife Society, Nairobi where he was an award winner, and also at AFRICAT Exhibition, Nature in Art, Gloucester.   He visited Africa to research his own book on African Wildlife and Conservation which was published by Swan Hill Press in 1997.    In 1992, 1998 and 1999  he was the Artist in Residence at Wallsworth Hall, Gloucester. In 1997 he held one-man shows and book launches in London, Southampton and Gloucester and was commissioned to produce a work entitled "Altarpiece", a 10' x 5' triptych inspired by a verse by Francis of Assisi.   In 1999 he again visited AfricaZimbabwe and Mozambique on a working trip and in  2000 and 2001 he tutored at the Summer School at Marlborough College, Wiltshire
