Russell Reeve was a
watercolour painter and etcher, born at Hethersett, Norfolk. He studied at the Norwich School of Art and at
the Slade School under Philip Wilson Steer and
Henry Tonks. He also studied at the Royal
College of Art. His work was exhibited
at the Royal
Academy, the New English
Art Club, the Royal Society of
Portrait Painters, the London Group, Goupil Gallery,
the Royal Society of British Artists,
the Royal Society of Painter Etchers
and Engravers and in the provinces. His
work is in many public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum,
the Guildhall Art Gallery,
the Imperial War Museum,
the museums and art galleries of Belfast,
Bradford, Sheffield,
Barnsley, Camberwell, Hornsey, St Marylebone,
Sydney Australia and the Duke of York’s Headquarters Chelsea. A retrospective of his work was held at Christchurch
Mansion Ipswich in 1992 and Piano Nobile Fine Paintings
showed selected works in 1993. In 2004 Sothebys held a studio sale.
