Mary Remington was born at Reigate in Surrey. She studied at Redhill School of Art and was
awarded a scholarship under William Rothenstein to the Royal College of Art
from 1930 to 1933. Afterwards she
studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil
Painters of which she became a Member in 1962,
the Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Art Club of
which she was elected Member in 1954.
She is represented in the collections of Brighton Art Gallery and Museum, Kensington
Public Library, Tower Hamlets Public Library and Grundy Gallery Blackpool. Her work is in private collections in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Persia, Switzerland, Canada and Great Britain. She had a studio at Sutton in Surrey for many years and her son
Roger is also an artist.
