Margot Rosenthal was born in Berlin and studied art in Dresden before emigrating to the United States where she continued her
education at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford under Dorothy Segal and
Paul Zimmerman. Her paintings, prints
and mixed media works have been exhibited in many New England one-person and juried group
exhibitions, winning more than 40 awards along the way, mainly for Collage and
Mixed Media Paintings and Collographs, among them a Purchase Award at the Berkshire Community College. Second and Third Prizes for 5 consecutive
years at the Sharon Creative Arts Center, Second Prize Connecticut Watercolour Show, and
several Awards at the annual Springfield Art League Exhibition. In 1999 Margot was honoured with a
retrospectivew of her work at the Hartford Jewish Community Centre where she
taught for thirty years. Primarily a
painter, Margot has in later years found collage to be the most appropriate way
of expressing and communicating her love of nature and the world around
her. She is a member of the Connecticut
Academy of Fine Arts (Board Member), the Connecticut Watercolour Society, the Connecticut
Women Artists, Inc. (Vice President), the New Haven Paint & Clay Club, the Essex
Art Association, the Gallery on the Green, Canton, Connecticut and the Berkshire
Art Association One Woman Shows include: 1963-
