Ebenezer Wake Cook
was a painter in watercolour who studied in Paris under N. Chevalier. He painted views of the Thames Valley and
travelled widely painting in Italy, Switzerland, Yorkshire and the Lake
District. He exhibited his work at the
Fine Art Society, who showed 372 of his pictures, the Royal Academy, who showed
32 of his works, the Royal Society of Artists Birmingham, the Dudley Gallery,
Liverpool Art Gallery, the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute and
Arthur Tooth and Sons. His drawings were
used as illustrations for “The Quest for Beauty” and “Real and Ideal”. Examples of his work can be found in the
Victoria dn Albert Museum; Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead; Ramsgate Library;
Melbourne Art Gallery and Sydney Art Gallery
